Education Roles for Scientists?

Bruce Alberts, President of the National Academy of Sciences, called upon scientists and scientific institutions to better support the efforts of science and math teachers in the nation's schools in his address to the Academy's 138th annual meeting. "Our collective and individual prestige will be wasted if we do not try to make a difference in every way that we can," Alberts said. Alberts' speech, both full text and audio file, can be found at:

FAS's Learning Technology Project is exploring alternatives for answering this call and will participate in efforts to both improve science education at the K-12 level and encourage young people to enter scientific professions. Please see http://www.fas.org/learn/index.html for more information.
